In my last post, I wrote about some commonsense things you can do to help prevent the signs of aging:

  • drink plenty of water
  • eat right
  • stay out of the sun
  • don’t smoke
  • reevaluate your cosmetics

In this post, I have some more anti-aging tips.  They’re all easy and natural, but a bit more proactive and a little less well known.

  1. exfoliate
  2. Before showering, use a stiff brush to gently brush your skin (body not face). This will help remove old skin cells and make your skin more receptive to moisturizers.  I first heard about this from a yoga teacher, and at the time it sounded sort of weird, but it will improve your skin . . . and, no, it doesn’t hurt.

  3. facial massage
  4. I read more and more about the benefits of facial massage, and it seems to be the basis of some recent anti-aging “programs.”  Try it for yourself.  Use circular motions.

  5. castor oil
  6. Castor oil is a great moisturizer for the eye area, and it nourishes the lashes and can be used on the throat, too. Be sure to use just a tiny amount.

  7. egg whites
  8. Apply a little under your eyes to tighten skin.

  9. aloe vera gel
  10. Apply aloe vera gel to diminish age lines and liver spots, as well as to moisturize dry skin.

  11. pineapple
  12. Rub the core of a pineapple along your face and leave on for about ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing.  This is a great treatment for wrinkles.

  13. turmeric powder with sugarcane juice
  14. Mix turmeric powder and sugarcane juice into a paste and apply it to your skin for another anti-wrinkle treatment.

  15. coconut oil
  16. Yet another natural remedy for wrinkles.

  17. honey and ginger
  18. Mix these into a paste and apply to your skin to make it tighter and firmer and to help get rid of acne.

  19. almond and wheatgerm oil
  20. And, finally, a wonderful nighttime treatment:  Massage a mixture of almond and wheatgerm oil gently into slightly damp skin.   (Note: Use minimal oil in the eye area.)

I hope you enjoy these and find them helpful. And, of course, please let me know of any natural beauty remedies you’ve tried, liked, and want to share.
