10 Easy, Natural Beauty Home Remedies for Aging Skin
In my last post, I wrote about some commonsense things you can do to help prevent the signs of aging:
- drink plenty of water
- eat right
- stay out of the sun
- don’t smoke
- reevaluate your cosmetics
In this post, I have some more anti-aging tips. They’re all easy and natural, but a bit more proactive and a little less well known.
- exfoliate
- facial massage
- castor oil
- egg whites
- aloe vera gel
- pineapple
- turmeric powder with sugarcane juice
- coconut oil
- honey and ginger
- almond and wheatgerm oil
Before showering, use a stiff brush to gently brush your skin (body not face). This will help remove old skin cells and make your skin more receptive to moisturizers. I first heard about this from a yoga teacher, and at the time it sounded sort of weird, but it will improve your skin . . . and, no, it doesn’t hurt.
I read more and more about the benefits of facial massage, and it seems to be the basis of some recent anti-aging “programs.” Try it for yourself. Use circular motions.
Castor oil is a great moisturizer for the eye area, and it nourishes the lashes and can be used on the throat, too. Be sure to use just a tiny amount.
Apply a little under your eyes to tighten skin.
Apply aloe vera gel to diminish age lines and liver spots, as well as to moisturize dry skin.
Rub the core of a pineapple along your face and leave on for about ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing. This is a great treatment for wrinkles.
Mix turmeric powder and sugarcane juice into a paste and apply it to your skin for another anti-wrinkle treatment.
Yet another natural remedy for wrinkles.
Mix these into a paste and apply to your skin to make it tighter and firmer and to help get rid of acne.
And, finally, a wonderful nighttime treatment: Massage a mixture of almond and wheatgerm oil gently into slightly damp skin. (Note: Use minimal oil in the eye area.)
I hope you enjoy these and find them helpful. And, of course, please let me know of any natural beauty remedies you’ve tried, liked, and want to share.
