Easy-to-Make Natural Masks

One of the oldest types of beauty treatment is the mask. Masks seem to be able to do just about anything and everything: treat dry skin, treat oily skin, fight acne, moisturize, smooth, firm, fight aging, you name it. In this post, I’ve got an assortment of easy-to-make natural masks that address a number of facial “issues.” Take a look through them; I’m sure you’ll find one that will work for you. And, if not, well, I’ve got some more mask recipes in the file for later.
Be sure you apply all masks to clean skin and that you moisturize after removing.
Mask for Dry Skin
- 1 avocado
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon milk
Mash the avocado into a smooth paste. Next, add the lemon, honey, and milk and blend these together into the paste. Be sure everything is well blended and the paste is smooth.
Spread the mask over your face and neck and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and moisturize as usual.
Note: This mask will keep about 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator.
An Even More Serious Mask for Dry Skin
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon jojoba oil
- ½ teaspoon whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon rose hydrosol
Put all the ingredients in a bowl and stir thoroughly.
Spread a smooth layer over your face and neck and wait for 15-20 minutes. Rinse.
Keep this one refrigerated; it doesn’t last long.
Mask for Oily Skin
- 1 tablespoon runny honey
- 1 egg yolk
- oatmeal
Mix the honey and egg yolk together. Next, gradually stir in some oatmeal until you have a soft paste.
Smooth the mask over the face and neck and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
This recipe is enough for just one mask, but it doesn’t last anyway so make it when you need it.
Firming Mask
- 3 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 teaspoon organic powdered kelp
- 1 teaspoon honey
Put the yogurt in a small bowl or dish, then add the powdered kelp and stir well. Stir in the honey and blend until smooth.
Smooth mask over face and neck (and your shoulders, if you like). The kelp promotes exfoliation, so massage the mask gently. Leave on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with a warm washcloth; to finish removal use a tonic and cotton ball.
Note: If you’re allergic to iodine, this is not the mask for you.
Softening Mask
- 2 tablespoons whole (uncooked) oats
- 1-2 tablespoons plain yogurt
Blend 1 tablespoon of the yogurt into the oats. The oatmeal will soften and break up as you stir, but if your paste isn’t smooth and creamy enough to spread across your skin easily, stir in a little more yogurt.
Smooth the mask over your face and neck and leave on for several minutes until the mask is dry. Rinse.
Note: Make this mask as you need it and store anything that’s left in the refrigerator.
Glow Mask
- 2 egg yolks
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
Mix the egg yolks and lemon juice together and apply to the face and neck for 10 minutes. After it hardens (which shouldn’t take long), rinse with warm water.
