In a recent  post I gave you some recipes for dry skin treatments: a facial cleanser, a mask, a lotion, a crème, and a foot scrub. Well, fair is fair, so today I’m going to pay some attention to those of you with oily skin. I’ve found recipes for a cleanser, a scrub, a cream, a night cream, a bath, and a surprise quick and easy oil control solution.

I hope you enjoy these recipes and that you’ll let me know how they work for you.

The first recipe may look familiar: It was the cleanser recipe for dry skin, too. It’s good for both.

Kiwi Facial Cleanser
(This recipe is from www.Spaindex.com)

• 1 kiwi fruit
• 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
• 1 tablespoon orange water
• 1 tablespoon apricot or almond oil
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1 teaspoon finely ground almonds
• 2 drops orange (or your favorite citrus) essential oil

Puree the kiwi fruit in a food processor until liquified. During processing, add yogurt, orange water, almond or apricot oil, and ground almonds. Process until thick and cream like. Add essential oil and stir to mix.

To apply, massage gently over neck, face, and décolleté to cleanse. Rinse well. Makes one application.

Orange Scrub for Oily Skin
(This recipe is from Noreen Finneran of “Incredible Edible Spa.”)

Everyone knows that oranges have tons of vitamin C, but did you know they also have astringent properties? That makes them especially good for oily skin.

• 1/2 of an orange
• 4 tablespoons of cornmeal

Squeeze orange juice and pulp into a bowl and add the cornmeal. Mix into a paste.

Apply the scrub to a freshly washed face (and body, if you wish) and scrub gently for 2-3 minutes. Follow by rinsing, toning, and moisturizing.

Strawberry Cream (this can also be used on dry skin)
(This recipe is from Jeanne Rose of “Herbs & Things”)

• 1/2 oz. white beeswax
• 1 1/2 oz. sweet almond oil
• 1 oz. apricot kernel oil
• 1 oz. strawberry juice (You’ll need 4-5 strawberries.)
• 8 drops tincture of benzoin

Wash, drain, and mash 4-5 large strawberries. Squeeze out the juice and strain through muslin or cheesecloth. Heat the beeswax and the oils together in a double boiler until the wax is melted. Remove from the heat and add the juice quickly. Beat the mixture until it is fluffy. Add the benzoin and beat until it is cool. You must beat the mixture until it cools or else it will separate.

Olive Oil Night Cream

• 1/2 cup olive oil
• 1/4 cup vinegar
• 1/4 cup water
• 3 tablespoons of white wax

Begin by heating the olive oil and white wax together in the top of a double boiler set on medium heat. Stir until the wax is completely melted. Remove the top of the double boiler and let the mixture cool to room temperature. When the mixture is cool, stir in the vinegar and water. This cream will keep about 3-4 weeks if refrigerated.

Orange Herbal Bath
(This recipe is from Jeanne Rose of “Kitchen Cosmetics.”)

Use only dried materials.
• 1 oz. orange peel, CS (Cut and Sifted)
• 1 oz. orange flowers, WH (Whole)
• 1 oz. lemon peel, CS
• 1 oz. comfrey leaves, CS
• camomile, WH
• 1 oz. almond meal

Mix everything together and store. (This recipe will make enough for 6-12 baths.)

To use in the bath, you can tie a handful in a muslin bag and drop in the tub or just put a handful directly in the water.
